Jabbour @ Old Church Theatre

A love of musical collaboration, Cajun music and travel brought them together. These four musicians bridge gaps and draw parallels between the musical genres that drive their own songwriting. Having played in various musical projects (Grouyan Gombo, Les Flâneurs, Dave Gossage, La montagne secrète, The Durham County Poets), they combined their creative abilities forming a project focused on original works. That being said, Jabbour has learned and arranged tunes from the traditions that inspire them such as Louisiana cajun music, Irish fiddle tunes, chansons francophones from Québec and France, and franco-Manitoban folk songs.

A Québécois chansonnier, PEI singer songwriter, fiddler rooted in Irish tradition and jazz and blues bassist, the members of Jabbour invite you to experience the musical universe of Saint Bernard, their second studio album featuring 14 songs in french and english, as well as a selection of folk and roots tunes from their varied repertoire. As an added Cobourg connection, three of the tracks on Saint Bernard feature Cobourg resident Saskia Tomkins and one tune features her son Oisin Hannigan. Since summer 2015, Jabbour has toured coast to coast from BC to Nova Scotia, they played throughout central Saskatchewan and Manitoba October 2019 and look forward to returning to southern Ontario for this special evening of contemporary roots music at the Old Church Theatre.
