Party for a Cause

The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, is a cycling journey throughout Ontario’s countryside that our friend and friend of the Old Church Theatre,  Shawn Dales is embarking on to fight cancer.

We are hosting a fundraising party to help Shawn reach his goals and support the larger cause with the help of  Burger Revolution.

Burger Revolution was recently named in Canadian Living Magazine as one of the TOP 10 BEST BURGER JOINTS IN CANADA! Now our hometown burger geniuses Jeff Camacho and Rayling Lei are out to revolutionize the Quinte region in their brand new Burger Mobile. We are so proud to have Burger Revolution join us for this amazing day of music, food, craft beer and local wine.

Stop by for lunch and stay for your favorite musician. Or all of them!

Why am I riding? Well …. I had been putting it off and wasn’t sure I wanted to do it again in 2017 and then 2 things happened.

1. I read an obituary in the Toronto Star for Donna McCullagh who had been instrumental in installing the “Bravery Bell” at the chemo ward at Princess Margaret. I was reminded of the article from 2015 when she’d rung the bell herself, as well as my own experience hearing the bell being rung and then ringing it myself.

2. Yet another person I know is about to embark on their own cancer journey. One I hope is quick & simple. So I’m riding again, because I can. I’m riding so that maybe some day there won’t have to be a bell to ring. I’m riding so that some day no one will have to share those words “I’ve got cancer!” with a loved one, friend or colleague. I’m riding so that there can be even more positive outcomes. I’m riding so that my generation can see the statistics change for the better & survival rates increase. I’m riding for me & every loved one, friend, colleague, acquaintance …….. everyone that’s been impacted by cancer.
