The Lucky Ones are a country-roots ensemble from the Yukon Territory, blending bluegrass, honky-tonk, country, and Americana into melodic, story-driven songs. Rooted in the spirit of old-time dances in taverns, barns, kitchens, and saloons, their music feels both timeless and immediate—bridging past and present while reflecting the people, places, and hard-lived stories of Canada’s North. Since the release of their self-titled debut in 2021, The Lucky Ones have emerged as one of Canada’s leading roots music groups. Dubbed “Yukon’s country heroes” by CBC Radio, the band’s songwriting and performances invite audiences into the rugged landscapes and lived realities of Canada’s last frontier.
The band’s most recent release, A Nickel for the Fiddler (2024), is a raw, high-energy live-off-the-floor recording steeped in hillbilly bluegrass and dusted with country swing. The album received widespread attention from No Depression, The Bluegrass Situation, CBC, and BBC, and earned the band official showcases at BreakOut West, UK Americana Music Week in London, England, and Canmore Folk Festival. A Lucky Ones set is both a foot-stomping party and a heartfelt musical journey—equal parts drive, grit, and harmony. The band is currently preparing their third full-length album, Pine Trees and Hearts, scheduled for release in summer 2026 with tour dates in Yukon and Ontario.
