Claire Coupland and Sarah Hiltz – two folk singer songwriters from opposite sides of the country are joining forces this Spring for an April tour of Ontario/Quebec. Claire is releasing her brand new album “New Light”, and Sarah will be accompanying Claire, as well playing her own music from her album, “CALM FURY”.

Bringing “a fresh, graceful feel to contemporary folk”, Claire’s crystal clear voice, smooth finger picking and jazz influenced progressions draw listeners into her personal world of life experiences, always with a touch of humour. Sarah Hiltz, a folk artist based in Toronto, presents her newest album (CALM FURY) – a collection of songs that grew out of her research into the ways we experience, express and suppress anger in modern society, especially women.

These two songwriters are sure to bring an unforgettable night of music, storytelling, connection and laughter to their audiences.

Claire Coupland:  Bringing “a fresh, graceful feel to contemporary folk”, Claire’s crystal clear voice, smooth finger picking and jazz influenced progressions draw listeners into her personal world of life experiences. Her brand new album, “New Light” showcases darker and more vulnerable reckonings of self worth, painful goodbyes, fragile family dynamics and ultimate hope for the future.  Produced by Juno award winning musician Sam Weber (Bahamas) and LA’s finest musicians (Dawes, Alan Hampton, Garret Lang), the album presents spontaneous and organic arrangements of her songs with mood filled percussion, slinky guitars, sparkling piano and shades of grunge and California rock.
Sarah Hiltz is a contemporary folk artist based in Toronto, Canada. Her newest album (CALM FURY) is a collection of songs that grew out of her research into the ways we experience, express and suppress anger in modern society, especially women. Hiltz has independently released four full-length albums and two EPs since 2009. Her work as a talented singer-songwriter has landed her Folk Music Ontario’s Songs From The Heart Award (Political Category), opening slots for Canadian icons Gordon Lightfoot and Ron Hynes, Top 3 placement in a nation-wide music competition (She’s The One), a Best Folk Album nomination (Toronto Independent Music Awards) and earned her an invitation to give a TEDx talk in 2014.
