DESCRIPTION: The Barrel Boys are a Canadian bluegrass powerhouse featuring
rich 3 and 4 part vocal harmonies\, flashy instrumental picking\, and a fu
n\, down-to-earth stage presence. Their music draws from the deep wells of
traditional bluegrass and Appalachian old-time\, but what sets them apart
is their heartfelt songwriting and storytelling.\nEstablished in 2012\, T
he Barrel Boys are a four-piece acoustic string band based in Ontario\, Ca
nada\, featuring fiddle\, banjo\, guitar\, and bass. The band’s sound is b
uilt around rich vocal harmonies and virtuosic instrumental playing\, and
their unique repertoire of original songs is informed by their fluency in
classic bluegrass\, old-time\, country\, and roots music. Each band member
writes and sings their own songs\, making for a wide stylistic range with
in the band’s sound.\n \nIn addition to being creative songwriters\, The B
arrel Boys are also seasoned performers. All four members crowd around a s
ingle vocal mic\, making for a beautiful vocal blend and a dynamic stage p
erformance. The group first honed its craft through a two-year residency a
t Toronto’s Cloak and Dagger Pub\, where they performed every Tuesday nigh
t. Since these humble beginnings\, they have been featured in concert seri
es and festival main stages across Canada.\nThe Barrel Boys’ 2025 release
“Chicken in the Window” is their fourth full-length album of original mate
rial. The album has earned the band nominations in two categories at the 2
026 Canadian Folk Music Awards: “Vocal Group of the Year” and “Traditional
