The Barrel Boys are a Canadian bluegrass powerhouse featuring ric h 3 and 4 part vocal harmonies\, flashy instrumental picking\, and a fun\, down-to-earth stage presence. Their music draws from the deep wells of tr aditional bluegrass and Appalachian old-time\, but what sets them apart is their heartfelt songwriting and storytelling.
\nEstablished in 2012\, The Barrel Boys are a four-piec
e acoustic string band based in Ontario\, Canada\, featuring fiddle\, banj
o\, guitar\, and bass. The band’s sound is built around rich vocal harmoni
es and virtuosic instrumental playing\, and their unique repertoire of ori
ginal songs is informed by their fluency in classic bluegrass\, old-time\,
country\, and roots music. Each band member writes and sings their own so
ngs\, making for a wide stylistic range within the band’s sound.

\nIn addition to being
creative songwriters\, The Barrel Boys are also seasoned performers. All f
our members crowd around a single vocal mic\, making for a beautiful vocal
blend and a dynamic stage performance. The group first honed its craft th
rough a two-year residency at Toronto’s Cloak and Dagger Pub\, where they
performed every Tuesday night. Since these humble beginnings\, they have b
een featured in concert series and festival main stages across Canada.
The Barrel Boys’ 2025 release “Chicken in the Window” is their fourth full-length album of original material. The album has earned the band nominations in two categ ories at the 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards: “Vocal Group of the Year” an d “Traditional Album of the Year”
